<p>Sorted plastic waste is converted to granules suitable for filter material for treating sewage or effluent. The material is particularly the plastic bottle fraction from the German Dual System. Peroxides can be added in the proportion of 0.1 to 0.5 % by weight. An Independent claim is also included for the process of preparation, cleaning, and chopping of the waste, followed by heating and extrusion in a screw or cascade extruder and granulation of the extrudate. Peroxides are added by treating 10-20 % of the waste with up to 3 % peroxide and then blending it with the remaining material.</p> |
