The vehicle body is shaped to absorb impact energies, and contains a deformation-resistant functional part. The part (5) is coupled to a displacement unit (7), so that during impending or actual collision, the functional part is moved by the displacement unit away from the outer body skin and inward into a distance vehicle area. The displacement unit is coupled pref. to an early and/or pre-crash sensor unit. It consists of a piston-cylinder unit and is triggered pyrotechnically.
