PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the device in which deterioration in the display characteristics due to the irregularity of the cell gap can be suppressed even when a reflection film having a scattering structure (rugged pattern) is formed on a substrate. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal held between a front substrate and a back substrate facing each other. The surface of the back substrate opposite to the liquid crystal is formed into a rugged pattern, and a protective film is formed on the surface having the rugged pattern, and further, a protective film to cover the reflection film is formed. Since the diffusing reflection face is formed on the opposite surface of the back substrate to the liquid crystal, a flattening film is not required on the opposite face to the liquid crystal. Therefore, the structure is advantageous for that an irregular cell gap due to a flattening film can be prevented. |
