PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance fastening rigidity, to reduce vibration and noise, to reduce the number of part items, and to reduce installing manhours by a fuel pump case having a fuel pump installing part and a cooling water outlet case part. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine having a cylinder block and a cylinder head arranged on an upper surface of this cylinder block, comprises a fuel pump case installing surface and a cooling water outlet arranged in the other end surface part of the cylinder head opposed to one end surface being the chain driving side of the cylinder head, the fuel pump case being installed on the other end surface of the cylinder head and having the fuel pump installing part and the cooling water outlet case part and a fuel pump installed in this fuel pump case.
