PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new liquid crystal compound which exhibits large dielectric anisotropy and has a relatively low viscosity, to provide a liquid crystal composition containing the compound, and to provide a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal compound represented by the general formula (1) [R1 is H, a 1 to 15C alkyl or the like; R2 is H, cyano, a halogen atom, a 1 to 15C alkyl or the like; L is a halogen atom or H; A1, A2, A4 and A5 are each independently trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene or the like; A3 is trans-1,4-cyclohexylene or the like; Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4 are each independently COO, CH2CH2, CH2O, CF2O or the like; Q is CF2CH2 or CH2CF2; (k), (l), (m) and (n) are each independently 0 or 1, provided that (k)+(l)+(m)+(n) is <=2]. |
