摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the range of visual field intercepted by the casing and frame of a video display device which displays video to be superimposed on an external image. SOLUTION: The video display device is formed into a spectacles shape having two plate-like prisms, and the casing holding a display unit is attached to the periphery of the prism. The casing is formed into a shape where the length of one direction vertical to the direction tying the eye and the casing is smaller than the length of the direction tying the eye and the casing, and furthermore, the casing is formed into a shape in which an angle intercepting the visual field is defined only by a portion nearer to the eye than the center of the casing in the direction tying the eye and the casing. Thus, the range of visual field intercepted by the casting is reduced, and the range of visual field intercepted by the frame is eliminated by eliminating the frame holding the prism. A hologram element is provided in the prism, and the prism is used also as an eyepiece optical system. Light from the display unit is made incident on the prism from an end surface, and is guided to a hologram element while reflecting the light inside.
