DECOMPOSITION AGENT FOR AGGRECAN AND METHOD FOR SCREENING ACTIVITY ADJUSTOR FOR AGGRECANASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new decomposition agent for aggrecan and a method for screening activity adjustors for aggrecanase effective or the therapy and prophylaxis of a disease caused by a lowering or enhancing of activity of an aggrecanse. SOLUTION: The decomposition drug for aggrecan includes ADAMTS-1 (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin type 1 motifs) protein or its functionally equivalent modified body as an active ingredient. The screening method contacts ADAMTS-1 protein or its modified body and an aggrecan in the presence or absence of a test compound and compares the difference of changes of the decomposition reaction of the aggrecane under the prescribed conditions.
