PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of enhancing workability in assembling components to be collectively attached to a roll paper cover. SOLUTION: This printer 1 is equipped with a body case 2 structured so that roll paper can be stored in it, a roll paper cover 3 which can be opened and closed relative to the body case 2, a printing mechanism 10 comprising a thermal head 11 and a platen roller 12, and a cutter mechanism 20 comprising a fixed edge 21 and a movable edge device 22. The thermal head 11 and the movable edge device 22 are disposed on the body 2 side, and on the other hand, the platen roller 12 and the fixed edge 21 are detachably and collectively structured as a platen unit 30 at the tip part of the roll paper cover 3.
