摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semitransmission type liquid crystal display device in which reflectance is improved in a reflection mode as well as the conventional transmittance is kept in a transmission mode and both functions of the reflection type and transmission type device are improved to a satisfactory level. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal panel 2 of the liquid crystal display device 1, transparent electrodes 10 and an alignment film 12 are successively formed on a glass substrate 8, a semitransmitting film 13 is formed by alternately depositing TiO2 layers as high refractive index layers and SiO2 layers as low refractive index layers on the outer surface of a glass substrate 9, and a color filter 14, an overcoat layer 16, a transparent electrode 17 and an alignment film 18 are formed on the inner surface. By alternately laminating the high refractive index layers and low refractive index layers to form the multilayered semitransmitting film 13, the sum of the transmittance and reflectance at each wavelength is controlled to 100% and both functions for the reflection type and transmission type can be improved to a satisfactory level.
