摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the valve timing of a DOHC engine capable of performing feedback control of the closing timing of suction and exhaust valves under optimum to the operation state of an engine and with high-precision. SOLUTION: This method for controlling the valve timing of a DOH engine 1 is that VVT(variable valve timing mechanisms) 25 and 26 are situated on suction and exhaust cam shafts 17 and 18, respectively, rotation of a crank shaft 6 is transmitted to the exhaust cam shaft 18 through the VVT on the exhaust side (the variable valve timing mechanism on the drive side) 26 and rotation of the exhaust cam shaft 18 is transmitted to the suction cam shaft 17 through the VVT 25 on the suction side, and the closing timing of the suction and exhaust valves driven by the suction and exhaust cam shafts 17 and 18 is controlled according to the operation state of the engine 1. From the target angle of the exhaust cam shaft 18 represented by a crank reference and the target angle of the suction cam shaft 17 represented by a differential angle from the target angle, the target angle of the crank reference of the suction cam shaft 17 is calculated, and feedback control of the VVT 25 on the suction side is executed such that the calculation value coincides with the actual angle of the suction cam shaft 17 measured based on the crank reference.
