PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a columnar body and a columnar body joint capable of preventing the operation of fitting a cylinder part onto a shank from being hindered by a key member caught in a portion other than a predetermined opposite grooved part, and also of preventing the key member from being damaged on contact with the opposite outer peripheral surface part of the shank or the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder part. SOLUTION: The columnar body has a cylinder part inner peripheral surface portion 23 formed to increase in diameter toward the end of the columnar body, and also has a shank outer peripheral surface portion 13 formed to decrease in diameter toward the end of the columnar body. At least one of the cylinder part 21 and the shank 11 which are brought into locking engagement with each other by disposing the key member 3 across an inwardly grooved part 22 and an outwardly grooved part 12 which radially face each other when the cylinder part and the shank mate with each other is provided at the end of the columnar body. A guide portion G capable of alignment as the operation of fitting the shank 11 into the cylinder part 12 is carried out is provided on at least either one of the end of the columnar body of the shank 11 and the end of the columnar body of the cylinder part 21.
