PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very high speed rotating apparatus which implements size reduction and a lower cost, by enlarging shock waves generating from very high speed rotations of a rotor to a higher speed area, to rotate the rotor in higher speed. SOLUTION: The ultrahigh speed rotating apparatus 1 has a closed case 6 accommodating and supporting the rotor 2, which rotates at a high speed higher than 300 m/sec. in circumferential speed. The closed case 6 is filled with helium gas, having a density of lower than 1 kg/m3. Gap pressure in the closed case 6 is maintained to be 196 kPa or lower. The rotor 2 can rotate at ultrahigh speed, without generating the shock waves.
