A rotating magnet field (1) produced by a shaft magnet (5) is detected by a semiconductor magneto-resistive sensor arrangement of two phase displaced Wheatstone bridges (2) producing two phase displaced sine wave voltages (6). The semiconductors are based on two electrically isolated permalloy layers. In an angle-voltage converter (3) these are converted to voltages (7) which are a function of angle. Finally a voltage-pulse converter (4) converts these voltages into square wave pulses (8)
