摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with a high pixel opening ratio. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device in this invention comprises an active matrix substrate having plural pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix form, scanning signal supply lines arranged between the rows of the plural pixel electrodes, video signal supply lines arranged between the columns of the plural pixel electrodes, switching elements provided in the neighborhood of the cross points of the scanning signal supply lines and the video signal supply lines and connected with the plural pixel electrodes, and plural pieces of common electrode wiring which are arranged for each row of the plural pixel electrodes and which face each other via the pixel electrodes and an insulating film and form storage capacities, and a counter substrate which faces the active matrix substrate holding a liquid crystal layer in-between and has a light-shielding layer for shielding an area where liquid crystal alignment is disturbed in the circumferential part of the pixel electrodes, and is characterized by that the pixel electrodes overlap with the scanning signal supply line of the precedent row via the insulating film to avoid a substantial capacitance coupling between the pixel electrodes and the scanning signal supply line of the precedent row.</p>
