PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sense correctly a temperature condition in an apparatus, and conduct an appropriate temperature management control. SOLUTION: Heat-storage medium layers 5A and 5B are provided to a plurality of gas inlets and outlets for a combustion chamber 6. A treated gas G' sent from the chamber 6 is passed through either one of the layers 5A and 5B in the first process. A to-be-treated gas G to be sent for the chamber 6 is passed though the layer through which the gas G' has been passed in the preceding process. In the above process, a heat-storage medium layer for passing the gas G and a heat-storage medium layer for passing the gas G' are alternately switched in the apparatus. The layers 5A and 5B are respectively provided with a plurality of in-layer-temperature sensors 9A and 9B. A controller 10 is provided to conduct a prescribed temperature management control based on detected temperatures in a plurality of places by the sensors 9A and 9B.
