PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator car device capable of substantially heightening an air straightening a cover without exerting influence on the top clearance of a hoistway and the depth of a pit. SOLUTION: An elevator car device is provided with the air straightening cover 10 projected vertically from the vertical end section of a car 5 moving up and down in the hoistway 2 in a tapered shape. It is also provided with a projected cover body 11 forming the projected section of the cover 10 and retractable toward the car 5 and an actuation means 17 to retract the cover body 11 toward the car 5. In addition, it is provided with a controller operating to energize the means 17 when the car 5 approaches the end section of the hoistway 2. Since the cover body 11 in the vertical direction so hence is retracted toward the car 5 when the car 5 approaches the end section of the hoistway 2, the cover 10 can be heightened while the car 5 moves up or downward at the intermittent section of the hoistway 2, which is not restricted by the depth of the pit of the hoistway 2.
