摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect shorts between each gear positions of a gear position sensor and to proactively prevent wrong determination of a gear position. SOLUTION: The gear position sensor 33 rotates a rotary contact 36 according to switching of gear positions of a transmission and switches between stationary contacts S1 to S6 (resistances R1 to R6) which makes contact with this for changing an output voltage. Malfunction detection voltage ranges are each set between this output voltage of the gear position sensor 33 and each gear position determining voltage range for determining each gear position, and resistance values for each resistance R1 to R6 are set, so that when there is a short circuiting between the stationary contacts S1 to S6 (the resistances R1 to R6), the output voltage of the gear position sensor 33 in the short circuited gear position comes within the malfunction detection voltage range. As a result of this, when a short circuiting between adjacent stationary contacts S1 to S6, malfunction of the gear position sensor 33 can be detected by the output voltage of the gear position sensor 33.
