OFFSET PRINTING PAPER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an offset printing paper good in printing quality and printing operability by efficiently improving the surface strength of the printing paper such as a vessel pick strength by a small coating amount of a surface- treating agent. SOLUTION: This offset printing paper is obtained by coating the surface- treating agent consisting essentially of a dry oxidatively modified starch obtained by using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent, and having >=0.05 wt.% content of an aldehyde group based on the dry oxidatively modified starch, and drying the coated paper. The method for producing the offset printing paper is characterized in that the surface-treating agent consisting essentially of the dry oxidatively modified starch obtained by using hydrogen peroxide as the oxidizing agent, and having >=0.05 wt.% content of the aldehyde group based on the dry oxidatively modified starch is applied on the surface of a base paper in an amount of 0.05-1 g/m2 expressed in terms of solid per one surface, and the coated paper is dried.
