PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adhering a cover capable of performing an optimum bonding between an adhesive and the cover by manufacturing a backbone of a book operating so as not to damage in the case of opening the flexible and bookbound book and loading the book. SOLUTION: In order to improve a strength and durability of the backbone of the cover (1) of the book bonded to the backbone (9) of the book block with the adhesive, an inner surface directed toward the backbone (9) of the block is recessed at least over a width of the block before bonded to the backbone (9) of the block. Thus, its durability is enhanced.
