PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a charge storage time by using a photoelectric conversion signal near a calculation area when the value of a photoelectric conversion signal in the calculation area of an image sensor array is equal to or exceeding a saturation level. SOLUTION: Object light transmitted through a lens 91 is image-formed on the image sensor array 2 by a focus detecting optical system 1. The corresponding photoelectric conversion signal to the incident light quantity is outputted by the image sensor array 2 in accordance with an element position. A prescribed arithmetic operation is performed by using each signal level of plural photoelectric conversion signals outputted from plural pixel areas of the image sensor array 2 and each position of the pixel areas for outputting respective photoelectric conversion signals on the image sensor array 2. The charge storage time Tn is calculated by a storage time control part 4 by using the maximum value Dmax when the maximum value Dmax of the photoelectric conversion signals D[As] to D[Ae] of the elements As to Ae (Fig.4) is below the saturation level, on the other hand, when the value Dmax is equal to or exceeding the saturation level, the charge storage time Tn is calculated by the control part 4 by using the photoelectric conversion signal D[As-i] of an element (As-i)(Fig.4) positioned adjacently on the left side of the element As. The charge storage time Tn is set in the image sensor array 2 by the control part 4. |
