PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out abnormality diagnosis with high accuracy by precisely conducting a primary check even if an unexpected angular velocity is inputted. SOLUTION: In an event such as the switching-on of a power supply, the primary check is carried out based on the signal level of an angular velocity output varied by impressing a sensor element of this angular velocity sensor with a pseudo rotation signal equating with an angular velocity signal. In a primary check circuit 14 in particular, the signal level of the angular velocity output of the sensor element not impressed with the pseudo rotation signal is held by a hold circuit 21. Based on the held signal level, a threshold value is variably set for comparatively determining the signal level of the angular velocity output. The signal level of the angular velocity output of the sensor element impressed with the pseudo rotation signal is compared with the set threshold value by window comparators 31, 32, From a result of this, it is diagnosed whether or not there is abnormality. |
