PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of an operation transmission mechanism from a shift lever to a manual valve and to guarantee high operation reliability in a shift lever, which is capable of position-selecting in two directions. SOLUTION: The manual valve 58 is moved to P, R, and N-D positions according to the an operation of the shift lever in a first shift guide passage. It is held at the N-D position to an operation in a second shift guide passage. This controller is provided with solenoid valves 81 to 88 controlling feeding and draining of hydraulic oil of LOW to 5TH clutches 11 to 15 according to operations of the manual valve, an electric control unit ECU setting a neutral range, when the shift lever is in the N position and setting a forward range when it is in the D position for performing shift control, and a defective operation detecting means detecting defective operations of the solenoid valves or the like. When a defective operation is detected in one of the electric control valves, a fail mode is set corresponding to its contents, and on the basis of this fail mode, operation control is performed for normal solenoid valves other than the one causing the defective operation. |
