PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a swing arm of a swing type dancer pulley device from falling down. SOLUTION: In the swing type dancer device comprising a dancer pulley 2 for guiding traveling linear material 10 provided at an end part of the swing arm 21, an angle detecting means 7 is attached to a rotary shaft 22 of the swing arm 21. The angle detecting means 7 measures angle change of the swing arm 21 during tension control and guides a fall protection rod 5 close to the position directly under the swing arm 21 when counterclockwise angle change increases so that the fall protection rod 5 is ready to be inserted under the swing arm 21 in time for the fall of the swing arm 21.
