The undervoltage circuit breaker has a trip device (4) which outputs a trip pulse (PA) to operate a switch contact if a voltage falls below a threshold. The voltage threshold can be adjusted. The voltage threshold is a variable comparison voltage (U2) fed to a comparator circuit (2). The comparator circuit outputs a status signal (SA) to generate a trip pulse if a monitored voltage (Uin) deviates from the comparison voltage. The comparator circuit may be connected to a bistable trip stage (3) connected to the trip device.
