PREPARATION METHOD OF ACETOXY PHENYL METHYL CARBINOL

PURPOSE: A novel method of preparing acetoxy phenyl methyl carbinol that is used as an intermediate in the synthesizing process of 4-acetoxy styrene(formula IV)under more mild conditions than conventional methods. CONSTITUTION: The method is characterized in that 4-acetoxy acetophenone compound(formula II) is converted into acetoxy phenyl methyl carbinol(formula I) under coexistence of a polar solvent such as distilled water, methanol, ethanol and a catalyst such as Pd/C, Raney Nikel. In the method reaction temperature ranges from 0 to 25deg.C and its reaction pressure is between 14.7 and 73.5psi.
