PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing device for a mobile unit capable of dealing with a large amount of data without equipping itself with a storage device of large capacity and capable of reducing the cost of the storage device itself, and to provide an information processing method therefor. SOLUTION: With respect to map information around the position of the mobile unit, a first set of data taken from a CD-ROM is stored in a memory part 107 and a second set of data received by radio from a database server 204 is stored in a received data storing part 108. A first display data generating part 102 generates a first set of display data of an area N from the first set of data read out from the memory part 107 while a second display data generating part 103 generates a second set of display data of a block bN from the second set of data read out from the storing part 108. The first and second sets of display data are overlaid to be displayed. Thus, the information processing device receives necessary map information by radio from a database connected to a network, it can deal with a wide range of map information without equipping itself with a storage device of large capacity, and it can reduce the cost of the storage device. |
