PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition which is capable of forming a coating film excellent in hot water resistance, weatherabiliy and alkali resistance. SOLUTION: The coating composition is formed by blending the following components: (i) an aqueous dispersion liquid obtained by the emulsion polymerizing in water in the presence of an Al-, Ti- or Zr-based metal chelate compound, of (A) 100 pts. by mass of a partially hydrolyzed condensate of the organosilane expressed by formula (1): R1nSi(OR2)4-n (wherein, R1 is a 1-8C organic group; R2 is a 1-5C alkyl group; and (n) is 1 or 2) and (B) 10-2,000 pts.wt. of a monomer mixture consisting of (a) 0.5-30% by mass of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having in the molecule a polymerizable unsaturated group and a hydrolysable group bonding directly to a silicon atom, (b) 0.5-20% by mass of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having in the molecule a polymerizable unsaturated group and either an aldo group or a keto group and (c) 99-50% by mass of the polymerizable unsaturated monomer exclusive of the above components (a) and (b); and (ii) a compound having in the molecule two or more hydrazide groups.
