PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical method for producing a protected amino compound in which by-products are slightly formed and the reaction proceeds at a moderate rate even at low temperatures. SOLUTION: This method for producing the protected amine compound comprises reacting an amine compound represented by general formula (1) R1-NHR2 (1) (wherein, R1 denotes an aryl group or a heterocyclic group which may be substituted; and R2 denotes hydrogen or a 1-8C alkyl group) with a carbonate chloride represented by the following general formula (2) R3OCO-Cl (2) (wherein, R3 denotes an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group or an aralkyl group). In the method for producing the protected amine compound, the reaction is carried out in the presence of an aminopyridine compound represented by the following general formula (3) (wherein, R4 and R5 may be the same or different and are each an alkyl group or an aryl group or both together may form a ring) in an amount of >=0.8 equivalent based on the carbonate chloride and a base.
