METHOD FOR PRODUCING TETRAALKOXYSILANE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the production of a tetraalkoxysilane in an industrially satisfactory high conversion rate even by using an industrial metallic silicon having a large grain diameter in a method for producing the tetraalkoxysilane from silicon and an alkyl alcohol using an alkaline catalyst. SOLUTION: This method is to produce the tetraalkoxysilane by reacting silicon, a silicon alloy or a mixture thereof with an alcohol in the presence of the alkaline catalyst. The method for producing the tetraalkoxysilane is characterized by carrying out the reaction under pressure while refluxing a reactional liquid and regulating the evaporation rate therein to >=0.2 L/L.h.
