PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus, for the detection of vehicle speed pulses, in which an erroneous vehicle speed is not indicated on a display part even when a non-running pulse train which is similar to a regular pulse train is generated. SOLUTION: In the method for the detection of the vehicle speed pulses, a pulse train P according to a vehicle speed is counted, and a vehicle speed S is found on the basis of its counted value so as to be indicated. Until a first definite time T1 elapses since the first pulse P1 of a pulse train P' is detected, the counted value is not found.
