PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deformation of a vehicle frame by offsetting the collision energy to the vehicle frame with the inertial energy of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A booster mechanism comprises a lateral member 5 connected to the front ends of a pair of right and left side frames 8 forming the vehicle frame 10, a receiving lever 18 journalled to the center section of the lateral member 5 with its tips extended toward the side frames 8 along the back face of the lateral member 5, energy absorbing members 4 supported on the receiving lever 18 with their front ends extended forward through the lateral member 5, a link 12a extended forward and inward from base ends journalled to the side frames 8, a bar 18 protruded from the front end of the link 12a to the front of the internal combustion engine 6 supported between a pair of the right and left side frames 8, and a link 14 connected between the receiving lever 18 and the front end of the link 12. At a head-on collision of a vehicle, the inertial force from the internal combustion engine 6 is received by the bar 12, and a toggle mechanism formed with the links 12a and 14 is extended to suppress the deformation of the vehicle frame 10.
