The controller has a starter element set in operation by entering an authorization code, especially in the form of an electronic immobilizer (WFS) and a number of bus-connected control devices (S1-Sn) that sign on to the starter element at the start of operations and commence operating after acknowledgment of the sign on. Each control device sends an identification number (I1-In) to the starter element at sign on and the starter element authorizes only if the identification number matches a correspondence number (K1-Kn) stored in the starter element.
