PURPOSE: A device for controlling a track transferring of an optical disk is provided to detect a load of a sled motor for transferring a pickup unit, and to compensate a driving pulse corresponding to the detected load, so as to access a target track at a high speed regardless of load to retrieve data. CONSTITUTION: A pickup unit(30) detects a signal recorded in an optical disk(10). A sled motor(40) transports the pickup unit(30) in a radial direction of the optical disk(10). A spindle motor(20) rotatively drives the optical disk(10). A driver(50) drives the sled motor(40) and the spindle motor(20). An encoder(110) detects a transport amount generated when the pickup unit(30) is transported as a predetermined section. A counter(120) counts the number of predetermined signals corresponding to the detected transport amount. A comparator(130) compares differences between the number of pulses of the counted signals and the number of pulses of preset signals. A timer(150) counts a time when the pulses of the two signals are identical. A load calculator(140) calculates load corresponding to the identical time. A micro computer(80) controls a driving signal according to the calculated load.
