PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable intake device for an internal combustion engine with improved power by preventing the air flow from disturbing when opening a variable intake valve. SOLUTION: This variable intake device for the internal combustion engine is provided with respective intake pipes 12 and a surge tank 15 partitioned by a partition 18 and integrated together, and varies the intake pipe length by opening/closing respective communication ports 19 provided in the partition 18 for every intake pipe 12 by the respective variable intake valves 20. This intake device is characterized in that the rotary shafts 22 and 23 of the respective intake valves 20 are arranged along the central axes of the respective intake pipes 12. When the respective intake valves 20 are opened, the respective variable intake valves 20 take attitude along the air flow so that, when the respective variable intake valves 20 are opened in a high rotation speed range of the engine, the respective intake valves 20 are prevented from disturbing the air flow.
