The connection management method provides a connection between a radio communications station, e.g. a mobile subscriber station (MS) and the general packet radio service network, via a radio interface of a terrestrial radio network (UTRAN) and a service network node (SGSN) of the general packet radio service network, for communication of data packets in either direction. An Independent claim for a communication system for connecting a radio communications station with a general packet radio service network is also included.
