PURPOSE: A liquid leakage sensor and thin paper and holder for liquid leakage sensor is provided to detect liquid leakage in a stable and reliable manner without being affected by air bubble even when a large amount of liquid leakage has occurred. CONSTITUTION: A liquid leakage sensor(20a) comprises a thin paper(8) which becomes transparent by absorbing liquid leakage; a thin paper holder(4) for maintaining the thin paper at a horizontal state, and which is disposed at a bottom floor(1) and has a bottom surface forming a reflecting plate; a case(12) accommodated into the thin paper holder, and which has a bottom portion formed of a transparent plate(42) or semi-transparent plate; a light source(14) for radiating light to the thin paper through the transparent or semi-transparent plate; a light receiving member(16) for receiving the light reflected from the bottom surface of the thin paper holder; and a detection member(18) for detecting liquid leakage based on the data output from the light receiving member. The light source and light receiving member are integrated into a single unit and accommodated into the case. An air gap(10) is formed between the thin paper holder and the case so as to allow the leaked liquid to be rapidly infiltrated when the thin paper contacts the leaked liquid.
