PURPOSE: A sound barrier for a highway is provided to improve noise-isolating and absorbing effect and to express beauty through nature-friendly environment by growing plants using the earth filled in a sound barrier. CONSTITUTION: A primary sound barrier(1) is formed by binding bars. Front and rear wall bodies(2) of which lower ends are buried underground are installed on the ground at a specific interval. For preventing widening, a bar of the front wall body is bound with the other bar of the rear wall body via a combining rope. Earth(5) or rocks are filled in the space between the front and rear wall bodies. Second and third sound barriers(11,12) of which width is narrower than that of the primary sound barrier are installed in a multiple steps. According to the use of earth and rocks, the costs for installation and materials are low. By growing plants in the earth, landscape architecture and sound absorbing and isolating effects are elevated.
