PURPOSE: A channel allocation and synchronization apparatus of an asynchronous transfer mode bus is provided to improve the reliability of a system by synchronizing channel information with information of an ATM(Asynchronous transfer Mode) data cell. CONSTITUTION: A common cell bus(10) transmits a data cell of an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) in high speed. A control unit connected to the common cell bus(10) analyzes an over head of an asynchronous signal inputted, detects its attribute, and outputs corresponding plural control signals and data. A channel FIFO(first-in first-out) receives, stores, outputs, or initializes channel information and a control signal transmitted from the control unit in the ATM and outputs a count enable signal. A counter receives and counts the count enable signal from the channel FIFO. When the counter counts the count enable signal more than adequate amount under the control of the control unit, a channel control unit(60) initializes the counter. The channel control unit(60) is comprised of the control unit, the channel FIFO, and the counter. A data FIFO(55) stores and outputs an asynchronous data cell of a corresponding channel transmitted from the ATM common cell bus(10), in response to the control signal from the channel control unit(60). A plurality of processor matching units(31,33,35), responsive to the control signal of the channel control unit(60), receive, process, match, and output the ATM data cell output from the data FIFO(55) to a corresponding line.
