PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rewinding an ink ribbon in which high quality printing can be ensured by preventing an ink ribbon wound around a winding ribbon from being rewound randomly around a supply reel. SOLUTION: When an ink ribbon 17 wound around a winding reel 16b during print operation is rewound around a supply reel 16c, a thermal head 15 is moved in the direction of an arrow H to the platen 2 side and abutted against a guide roller 16f. Consequently, the ink ribbon 17 can be prevented from being rewound randomly around the supply reel 16c.
