PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently volume-reduce and solidify a waste of a foamed polystyrol or the like by enhancing a shape retentivity of a lump of the waste by a compressing chamber outer cylinder for preventing a rotation together with a simple structure in an apparatus for volume reducing and solidifying the waste so as to be convenient for a storage or a transportation. SOLUTION: The apparatus for volume-reducing and solidifying the waste of the foamed polystyrol or the like comprises a screw blade 32 of a screw 30 having a radius gradually reduced toward a final end of a conveying direction, the compressing chamber outer cylinder 22 having a sectional area gradually reduced to meet the gradual reduction of the diameter of the blade 32 and a molding cylinder 23 continuously provided at the cylinder 22. In this case, the cylinder 22 is formed at its inner surface in a truncated pyramidal shape.
