PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for preventing an accident in a power tiller capable of preventing the accident of rolling in a rotary when the traveling direction is changed during tillage operations. SOLUTION: This apparatus for preventing the accident in the power tiller comprises a tillage clutch device 35 for engaging and disengaging the driving of the rotary 4 for tillage, a rotary lifting detecting cable 19 interlocking with a rotary lifting detector 13 for detecting whether or not the rotary 4 for tillage is lifted, a left and a right steering detecting cables 18 and 18 interlocking with a left and a right steering side clutch levers 6 and 6, an OR operating mechanism 15 for varying the output thereof from a straight advance state to a direction changed state when the one steering detecting cable 18 is varied from an engaged state to a disengaged state and an AND operating mechanism 16 for varying the output thereof from an engaged state to a disengaged state when the rotary lifting detecting cable 19 is varied from the tillage state to a lifted state, and the output from the OR operating mechanism 15 is varied from the straight advance state to the direction changed state. The tillage clutch device 35 is capable of varying the driving of the rotary 4 for the tillage from the engaged state to the disengaged state when the output of the AND operating mechanism 16 is varied from the engaged state to the disengaged state.
