PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form high-quality images, speed up discharging ink and lower a voltage. SOLUTION: A face of an electrode substrate 14 of the recording head where discrete electrodes 20 are provided is formed of an inclined face 23 which gradually changes a depth in an arrangement direction of nozzles arranged in an array. A gap between a diaphragm 19 and the discrete electrode 20 is continuously changed from a minute gap to a large gap. A quantity of displacement of the diaphragm 19 is accurately varied by changing a potential difference between the diaphragm 19 and the discrete electrode 20. A size, a discharge quantity of ink drops and the like discharge characteristics when ink is discharged from the nozzles by displacing the diaphragm 19 are thus diversified.
