PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot with a telescoping device that contaminates no workpieces in a purified environment, for example, in a clean room, is easily handleable and needs almost no discrete covers for covering the telescoping device. SOLUTION: The robot R comprises a vertically telescopic driveshaft J. The driveshaft J comprises a given number of hollow shaft divisions JM. The shaft divisions JM as a whole can telescope between an extended state wherein they continuously overlap along the driveshaft J with their tips expanded away from the base end and a retracted state wherein they are contracted along the driveshaft J with their tips nearer to the base end. A telescoping device for telescoping the driveshaft J is compact without exposure to one side of the driveshaft J. |
