PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a letter box having an open-close cover which is movable up and down and does not drop. SOLUTION: The letter box A is provided with a letter input opening V, a letter receiving room W that receives letters inputted through the input opening and a taking out opening X of letters. The taking out opening X can be opened and closed by a cover member 33 arranged movably up and down guided by a pair of guide grooves 34 arranged face to face in a longitudinal direction. Also, a guide means 51 provided with a pileous contact part 51a that contacts with a side part 33a of the cover member 33 located in the guide groove 34 along the longitudinal direction of the guide groove. The pileous contact part 51a of the guide means 51 and the cover member 33 are contacted by a contact pressure for holding the cover member 33 at a moving and stopping position in the guide groove 34.
