<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly versatile method of cutting a steel plate with a laser beam directly applicable to a conventional steel plate without giving any specific characteristics to the steel plate to be machined, by which method an external disturbance to an assist gas for main cutting work is prevented and a high cutting quality of the cut face is available as a result, and to provide a device for the method. SOLUTION: In a process that a groove is formed first in a way that a part to be cut is irradiated with a laser beam for forming groove by moving the part irradiated with laser along the cutting line, then the steel plate is irradiated with a laser beam for main cutting work along the groove, and the steel plate is cut with the laser beam by heating and melting the cutting part, a gas nozzle for removing fused material is provided between the main cutting torch and a groove-forming torch, a gas for removing fused material for groove-forming is ejected in the direction opposing to the uncut part of the work by directing the exit of the gas nozzle for removing fused material to the forgoing groove-forming torch, thus the fused material is removed.</p> |
