The invention relates to a method and installation for aligning a crane. According to the invention, the method consists in welding some connecting plates or the like to a frame, aligning the rows of mounting holes drilled in the connecting plates, placing a guide plate onto the connecting plates, aligning the guide plates by means of at least the directional binoculars provided on the guide plates, and of at least one corresponding target plate provided in a corresponding point of a second corresponding guide plate, securing the guide plates after aligning and drilling the necessary mounting holes in the connecting plates and removing the guide plates over the connecting plates. The installation claimed by the inventon comprises a pair of guide plates (5), the first guide plate of the pair being provided with directional binocular (6) and the other guide plate provided with a target plate (7) positioned about the longitudinal direction of the guide plate in the same point as the directional binoculars of the first guide plate.
