The invention belongs to the field of electrotechnical products and relates to a system of protecting the electric current consumers against damaging by shocks due to over-voltages. The protection system comprises a maximal voltage relay, a delay element or a time relay (RTP) and a three-contact contactor (TCA) which, if mounted according to a functional diagram, disconnects the consumer supply network in case of incidental over-voltages. The system which is mounted between the consumer and the 220 V, 50 Hz supply network, disconnects the consumer in a shorter time than the time for which the consumer components are dimensioned and tested. The protection system against over-voltages may be made of relays or electronic components.
