PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a composite structure due to a slidable support of a cylinder unit by splitting a rocking bar and providing the cylinder unit between the pair of rocking bars. SOLUTION: A mold clamping device for a blow molding machine comprises a hook 2 mounted at one of mold mounting plates 70 and 72, clamps 3 and 4 to be opened or closed by a clamp opening/closing mechanism (33, 34, 3a and 4a) and mounted at the other of the plates 72 and 70, a driver 5 provided fixedly to any of the other of the plates 72 and 70 and a rear plate 71, and a rockably supported lever 78. in this case, a first operating part 78a of the lever 78 is operated by the driver 5 and the mechanism (33, 34, 3a and 4a) is operated by a second operating part 78b of the lever 78 to close the clamps 3 and 4. Then, the hook 2 is engaged and grasped. The clamps 3 and 4 engaging and grasping the hook 2 is drawn by the part 78b of the lever 78 to generate a predetermined mold clamping force.
