PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for 2-stage coating of a wire body to prevent the mingling of a volatile component of the primary coating into the resin of the secondary coating. SOLUTION: The coating device for a wire body has a spray chamber 4 provided in the downstream of a hardening part 3 of primary coating of 2 stages of resin coating to be applied on the wire body 1, extending in the travelling direction of the wire body 1, surrounding the wire body 1 and hermetically sealed, a device 6 for forcibly supplying a proper inert gas into the spray chamber 4, an exhaust chamber 5 adjacent to the spray chamber 4 in the travelling direction downstream side and exhausting air while controlling the flow rate, an upper part orifice 4A provided at the inlet of the spray chamber 4 and an lower part orifice 4B provided at the boundary between the upper part orifice 4A and the exhaust chamber 5 and a device 10 for measuring a pressure difference between the spray chamber 4 and the exhaust chamber 5, and the opening area of the upper part orifice 4A is smaller than that of the lower part orifice 4b.
