PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookstand serving for reading a book by opening a book cover holder and for storing the book by folding the holder and in case of a thick book allowing the book to be always folded in the bookstand and to be opened and read if necessary. SOLUTION: A pair of quadric crank chain mechanisms comprise a main leg 5, cover receivers 7, 7 pivoted to the right and left, S-shaped support legs 8, 8 and rods 12, 12, and these parts are opened and closed at a touch. In the case of a thick book, the thickness of the main leg 5 and the bottom plate 1 according to the thickness of the book is obtained, and moreover casters are installed to the bottom plate 1 to contrive the convenience of shift.
